Course Description:

    This is the program needed to become a Paramedic.

    Prerequisite:

    1. Current EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate or other EMT level
    2. Current Driver's License

    This program is designed to teach an EMT how to handle medical, traumatic and psychiatric emergencies; ranging from simple cuts to Heart Attacks and Strokes at the Paramedic level. Building on the EMTs basic skills we add advanced Airway Management which includes Endotracheal Intubation, LMA, PTL and Combitues, IV therapy, advanced patient assessment, medication administration, EKG interpretation and more. The IEME program doesn't end with minimum DOT requirements; we add many enrichment programs into the core material to produce a well rounded Paramedic.

    These additional programs include (but not limited too):

    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
    • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS)
    • Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) - American Geriatrics Society
    • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) – American Academy of Pediatrics
    • Introduction to Tactical EMS
    • Introduction to Technical Rescue
    • Introduction to Personal Defense
    • Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction
    • Introduction to BioTerrorism

    This program has both a didactic and clinical component and includes the Anatomy and Physiology. Our curriculum follows the Federal Department of Transportation guidelines, but exceeds both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services and DOT's minimum requirements.

    Price excludes textbook, insurance, and all exam fees.

    Pass Math and English Tests
    18 years old
    High School Diploma or GED
    Current EMT Certification
